Merry Christmas! As Catholics, we believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Simply, Jesus makes himself accessible and available to us in his body and blood while the outward, visible signs of bread and wine remain. This precious gift does not come wrapped in decorative paper with a bow or ribbon. Jesus becomes present to us with the appearance of familiar ingredients similar to his accessibility when born not as a conquering hero but a vulnerable infant. We are invited to receive this gift not only on Christmas and Easter or the occasional wedding or funeral but every weekend and holy day.
As your pastor, I am committed to renewal at Saint James the Apostle Parish. We exist to renew all things in Christ. Jesus is inviting you to come as you are… without fear of judgment or condemnation. He wants to give us the gift of himself regardless of our boredom, excitement, sorrow, or joy. As we continue our celebration of the miracle of his birth, we join the chorus of angels rejoicing, “Glory to God in the highest and peace to people of good will!”
On behalf of Fr. Bill, Dcn. Steve, and the Staff, I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas.
Joyfully,
Fr. Keith Wolfe, Pastor
