Our New Reopening Leadership Team
As communicated in last Thursday’s Special Communications Flocknote, all parishes in all dioceses in the state of Illinois have been tasked by the cardinal and the bishops to create a Reopening Leadership Team. By Friday of last week, Fr. David had created this team and today all members completed online training hosted by the Archdiocese of Chicago. The webinar provided an overview of the phases of opening and very specific guidelines we must be able to implement in order to be certified by the diocese to begin with Phase I.
Tomorrow, the team will be meeting together for the first time to begin creating our implementation plan. We ask you to please pray for Fr. David and the team members as they work at the steps required for certification. May the Holy Spirit give them wisdom and discernment as they set forth to create a plan which cares for the utmost safety and well-being of our parishioners.
Keep an eye on your Flocknotes for updates from this team. If you missed last Thursday’s communications, the letter from the Bishop and the Executive Summary on the Phased Reopening of the Diocese of Joliet may be found below for download and or printing.
May Crowning by the Eighth Grade Class of St. James the Apostle School
Earlier this month, in lieu of the May Crowning normally celebrated in the month of May by St. James the Apostle School, each eighth grader and their family was invited to come individually to our outdoor statue of the Blessed Mother at different times and add a rose to the vase found at her feet, as well as take a photo of the experience.
By practicing responsible social distancing, together they created a beautiful shared experience as you see in their collage of photos below. We thank all who participated and made this special experience a reality.
