Many of us have seen on the news that the island of Puerto Rico was hit by a devastating earthquake earlier this week. Along with my brother bishops, my thoughts and prayers go out to those suffering from the disaster, as well as the friends and family members concerned for them.

The Catholic Church in the Diocese of Joliet stands in solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico, especially as they continue to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. We pray for their safety and recovery.

Catholics and all people of goodwill may assist in the relief work by contributing to or contacting Catholic Charities USA at the below link.

May God bless you all, Most Reverend Richard E. Pates Apostolic Administrator, Diocese of Joliet
