For it is in Giving We Receive…
There is the verse, “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, the you do unto me.”
We, the members of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) of St. James the Apostle Church, attempt to answer God’s call to help others. We assist those in need of clothing, rent, food, utilities and gas vouchers to be used to go to work, doctor appointments, etc. The generosity of our St. James family enables us to carry out this mission.
As an example, recently, one of our SVDP members was able to respond to a homeless veteran who requested help to purchase warm clothing. He had obtained a job with the Salvation Army for the holidays which required him to stand outside in the cold. Your past generous donations enabled our SVDP member to use Walmart voucher cards to purchase the needed warm clothing.
Please help SVDP members continue answering God’s call to help others. The Thanksgiving collection is SVDP’s main source of funds. We thank you for all your past generosity and appreciate your remembering us this Thanksgiving at mass or in your envelopes.
Being a Vincentian can be very rewarding, even when all that is required is to just lend a sympathetic ear. If you wish to learn more about our ministry or would like to be come a Vincentian, please call Dottie Ashley at 630-673-8935.
