Established in 1982 by the Joliet Council of Catholic Women, the living memorial which honors the late Bishop Romeo Blanchette is supported by donations*. Scholarships in his name are made available each year to students in a parish with an affiliated Council of Catholic Women Organization and to students who will be attending a Catholic High School in the Joliet Diocese. One student per parish may be nominated by their Council of Catholic Women. Scholarship awards are made on the basis of financial need verified through FACTS assessment and student profiles.
The St. James the Apostle Council of Catholic Women are now accepting applications for this scholarship. Over the years well over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships have been given to students in need. St. James students have been awarded scholarships in the past.
