and the apostles left their nets and followed Him.
Jesus tells us to GO out to evangelize, to MAKE disciples, to BAPTIZE them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and to TEACH them to obey His commands. The Religious Education Office at St. James the Apostle focuses on this Great Commission.
Faith formation is primarily the responsibility of the parents. Our parish Religious Education Program builds on this foundation and is an integral part of the larger catechetical ministry of the Catholic Church.
The Religious Education Office is located in the Education Center next to the Church at:
490 S. Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137
RE classes for grades 1-5 are held on campus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Early childhood classes are held on Sundays from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Grades 6-8 meet in small Christian communities in catechists’ homes.
Early Childhood Program (age 3, 4 and 5)

Mass and are divided into three age groups — 3 Year Old, 4 Year Old and Kindergarten. Children learn about Jesus and God’s Word through Bible stories, prayer, music and movement, crafts and other hands-on activities.
Registration is accepted at any time throughout the year, but we encourage you to register early.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a very exciting week for children from age four through third grade, scheduled every year during the third week of June after school has been dismissed for the summer. Sessions are held in the morning.
Although themes differ from year to year, Bible-based stories, games, crafts, music and treats are a part of the week every year. Registration usually begins in the spring. Spaces fill up quickly, so register early. There is a nominal fee which helps with the expense of running the program. To download a copy of the Registration Form*, go to Useful Forms at the bottom of this page.
*Due to overwhelming response for the 2017 Vacation Bible School, registrations are no longer being accepted. We are at full capacity. See you next year!
